Common Questions

How did Cleerway Community Church begin?

Cleerway started in 2009 when two house groups from Grace Community Church Cornwall felt the need for a contemporary church within the Parish of St Cleer.  We started monthly café style services in the Memorial Hall which were so successful that in September 2010 we moved to the St. Cleer Primary School.  We subsequently became an independent community church meeting on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.  We currently have meetings open to everybody every Sunday morning at 10:30 at St. Cleer Memorial Hall, Well Lane, St. Cleer near Liskeard PL14 5EA.

Who is it for?

All are welcome to come to any of our services, whatever their background or belief.  Our aim is to present the Christian faith in an easy to understand, jargon-free way.

How is the church financed?

The regular members of Cleerway Community Church support the church through financial gifts and standing orders. We do not take up a collection during our services and we do not expect visitors to give money to the church.  Those who wish to give will have the opportunity of putting their gifts in to the offering basket at their convenience; alternatively, donations can be made via the Stewardship service by clicking on the following link:

What is a Church service at Cleerway Community Church like?

Our contemporary worship group leads us in songs of worship to God.  The songs have a modern feel to them and are generally easy to sing and understand.  People may share part of their life stories and how their faith in Jesus has helped them.  As we are a community church we try to inform folk of what is going on within the parish and encourage all who are able to get involved in local events.

We have a relevant, Bible based talk every week which is based around practical application of the teachings of Jesus to our everyday lives.  We pray for the local community and for various needs.  We offer prayer to individuals if this would be helpful.  We would be delighted to welcome you and your family and will make provision for children of all ages as necessary.

What if you need to talk to somebody?

Our Pastor makes herself available before and after the service.  If you would like to make an appointment for a meeting in a more private environment, please phone 07915 021667 or email enquiries@cleerway.org.uk.

Do you have any mid-week meetings?

We have house mid-week house groups on a variety of days and times during the week.  All involved with the life of the church are encouraged to join one of these groups.

We do have a meeting on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. to share food and discussion around a short bible-based talk which is relevant to our everyday lives.  This takes place in the village of Darite.

We have a bible study, open to all, on the first Friday of each month; the venue is posted in our Diary page.

What do you do within the local community?

We look for projects to undertake and to date have painted the inside of the memorial hall, the public toilets and the local bus shelters.  We serve at the annual village carnival and other local activities.

What do you believe?

Please see our full Statement of Faith and our Mission and Vision statements for the complete answer to this question.  Put simply, we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He came on a rescue mission to offer you and me the opportunity to follow Him and in so doing give us a purposeful life that will last for ever.
